Enhancement of interferometric precision using fast light

چکیده
We show that anomalous dispersion characteristic of fast-light can be used to enhance the sensitivity of optical interferometry under certain conditions. In particular, we show that a dual-chamber Fabry-Perot interferometer with a shared mirror-pair can be used in a way so that its sensitivity is increased by operating near the critically anomalous dispersion condition where the group index is much less than unity. The enhancement factor can be as high as 10 for realistic conditions. The process of bi-frequency pumped Raman gain in a Λ-type atomic medium can be used to achieve this effect.

High-speed scanning interferometric focusing by fast measurement of binary transmission matrix for channel demixing.
Using the fast measurement of a binary transmission matrix and a digital micromirror device, we demonstrate high-speed interferometric focusing through highly dynamic scattering media with binary intensity modulation. The scanning of speckles for reference optimization gives stable focusing, which can be used for focusing through a fast changing media or two dimensional scanning through a slowl...
متن کاملA Review of the Three-dimensional Field Displacement Retrieval Methods Using Interferometric Synthetic Aperture Radar Observations (InSAR) With Emphasis on the Precision of Each of these Methods
Interferometric Synthetic Aperture Radar (InSAR) technology provides a useful tool for quantitatively measuring the deformation of the earth, influenced by natural factors (earthquake, subsidence, and landslide) and human factors (construction of structures, drilling, and the overexploitation of underground water aquifers). In this context, time-series analysis of radar images allows the monito...
متن کاملHigh-speed channel demixing by scanning interferometric focusing with binary transmission matrix
In this paper, we demonstrate a fast binary intensity modulation based on the measurement of the binary TM. For each correction, the binary TM was calculated based on measurements of the intensity change at the target with a series of input masks. After preloading the measurement masks, the DMD can run at full speed during measurement. The system allows dynamic focusing at 12.5 Hz with 1024 inp...

Power-Recycled Weak-Value-Based Metrology Report Title We improve the precision of the interferometric weak-value-based beam deflection measurement by introducing a power recycling mirror, creating a resonant cavity. This results in all the light exiting to the detector with a large deflection, thus eliminating the inefficiency of the rare postselection. The signal-tonoise ratio of the deflecti...
متن کاملApplication of Fast Light in Gravitational Wave Detection with Interferometers and Resonators
In this paper, we study several designs for interferometric gravitational wave detectors, and the potential for enhancing their performance with a fast-light medium. First, we explore the effect of such a medium on designs similar to those already planned for Advanced LIGO. Then we review the zero-area Sagnac interferometer for GW detection, comparing its properties against the more conventiona...
